Avon-Shore Seed Library
This is a partnership between the Avon River Heritage Society and the Avon Peninsula Watershed Protection Society.
Project Mission
This project seeks to support community gardeners and small farmers, and anyone interested in growing plants, and in the history of agriculture in West Hants. We seek to fulfill two needs: community connection with local heritage, and a bank of locally-grown and adapted seeds for our community to use.
Finding and Organizing Seeds
Gardeners tend to have their favourite varieties of flowers and vegetables, and ones passed down from older relatives or from friends. These are the types of stories we are trying to find from our local area, and what will make it a true partnership between the seed library and museum! If you have a story to share, we'd like to hear from you. Contact us to schedule an interview, [email protected].
