Comeau Family
The Comeaux’ Acadian’s most common ancestor is Pierre Comeau who was born in France, 1597 and traveled to Nova Scotia in 1636. His job was a cooper, and he eventually married Rose Bayon in 1649. Together they lived in Port-Royal and had 9 children total; 6 boys and 3 girls. Pierre Comeau had a son aptly named Pierre Comeau, who married Jeanne Bourgeois and together had a son Francois Comeau. In 1763 Francois, along with one other family member, were listed as prisoners at Fort Edward. After being released from Fort Edward, the Comeau family traveled back to Annapolis-Royal, formerly Port-Royal. Between 1769 and 1771, the Comeau families were given land by Governor Michael Franklin at St. Mary’s Bay, N.S..
