Grounds and Maintenance Volunteer
Grounds and Maintenance Volunteer Duties:
The Grounds and Maintenance Volunteer will work closely with the Facility Manager to tend to the ongoing upkeep of the facility and will be guided by the ARHS maintenance policy.
The Grounds and Maintenance Volunteer will be based out of the Avon Spirit Shipyard and will ensure the site is kept tidy and organized in advance of events and rentals.
The Grounds and Maintenance Volunteer will complete small projects like constructing exhibits for the museum and minor repairs to the museum and shipyard, like replacing shingles, light bulbs, cleaning the chimney, general landscaping, and participating in the annual maintenance inspection.
The Grounds and Maintenance Volunteer will be tasked with collecting quotes on materials for repairs as needed. The Grounds and Maintenance Volunteer will complete repairs and/or arrange for the appropriate person or business to complete repairs.
The Grounds and Maintenance Volunteer will provide input for grant applications related to obtaining funding for repairs, upgrades and ongoing maintenance.
Ideal candidates will be willing to take on fair and appropriate tasks to help the heritage society maintain the facility.

- Interest in history, the arts and community museums an asset but not required
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to work well independently
- Carpentry, plumbing, and/or landscaping skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with others
