Festival Map - Newport Landing/Avondale

Picture
1) Avondale Wharf & Boat Launch. Take advantage of all that the river has to offer, including fishing, boating, swimming, mud sliding, bird watching, kite flying or witnessing the rumble of the tidal bore as it passes the wharf. Be sure to check the tide schedule before venturing onto mudflats.

2) Newport Landing Waterfront Park. Here, you will find the Lighthouse Stage, playground, and field, which will be the location for many of our workshops, kids activities, the Solstice Market, and food vendors.

3) Avon Spirit Shipyard. Surrounding the rustic shipyard you will find the festival grounds with the Info/Registration desk located in the rear, along the river. Within the grounds, you will find the Main Stage, bar, merch table and a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning.

4) Avon River Heritage Museum. This community museum features exhibits on the New England Planters, African Nova Scotians, Acadian settlers, the Mi'kmaq people, local family & home histories, Avon River ecology and wooden shipbuilding. During the festival the museum will play host to our impressive roster of musicians, performers and workshop facilitators.

5) Kings Wharf. We encourage you to venture onto the saltmarsh during low tide to explore the remnants of Kings Wharf, part of the onetime thriving gypsum mining industry, during the Golden Age of Sail.

6) Artist Parking. This area is reserved for performers and staff and those who need accessible parking.

7) Bus Stop Library. Here you will find books for all ages - take one or leave one!

8) Mounce Mansions. As you crest the hill on Avondale Road, you will see two large houses that were built by a 19th century ship captain and his sons. In 2020, the Honeymoon House was featured in the TV series Chapelwaite.

9) Orchard Campground. Here, you will find quiet areas for family camping, trees for shade, and outstanding views of the St Croix River and surrounding farm lands and dykes.

10) Community Cemetery. Here, you will find graves of many of the early founding families of Avondale and views of the St Croix River, across to Windsor.

11) Verger Communautaire. Originally planted by the Mounces, this apple orchard is now cared for by Bob Miller, who invites you to enjoy a stroll through the fruit bearing trees.

12) Avondale Community Hall & West Brook Trail. This community hub will be open all weekend as a comfort station for festival goers. From the parking lot, you will find access to the Avondale Trail System, connecting former gypsum rail routes.

13) Sugar Shack & NightHawk Campground. Located in close proximity to the Avondale Community Hall, this campsite is geared toward those who want to keep the party vibe going by the roar of a campfire.

14) Curry Hill - Festival Parking. We ask that all festival goers please park in this designated field. There is no parking allowed on the road. After you've chosen your campsite, please return your vehicle to Curry Hill for the remainder of the weekend.

15) Avondale Sky Winery & Mosher Trail. Withstanding nature, this former church floated down the Avon River from Walton, riding the tide to the Avondale Wharf. It journeyed up the steep hill to settle in next to the Mosher House and the Mosher Trail, helping transform the vineyard into Avondale Sky Winery and Restaurant. Open Wednesday - Sunday 11am-5pm.

16) Avondale United Church. Additional parking.
