Paint Avondale

Picture
Each September the Avon River Arts Society and Avon River Heritage Society play host to Paint Avondale, a spirited open air painting event, which takes place along the historic waterfront in Newport Landing.

A part of our Artisans in Action series, this event is sure to bring many people out to interact with our local artists, while exploring our community.

For the duration of the event the Avon Spirit Shipyard will be converted into a pop-up gallery where participating artists can display and sell their work. A volunteer will be on hand to process sales, with 100% of proceeds going back to the artist.

Artists interested in participating can contact us by email at infoavonriver@gmail.com or telephone (902) 757-1718.

The fee to participate is $25 per artist.

Artisans in Action: Paint Avondale Checklist

Set-up is from 10:30 am until 11:30 am, event runs from noon until 4pm.

Tables and chairs are provided. A limited amount of canopy tents are available for those looking to set-up along the waterfront, or you may bring your own.

We will have volunteers on hand during the day who will be gallery sitting for the afternoon and handling sales. 100% of all sales go back to the artist. Please have your artwork labeled and priced in advance.
Below are some items you may want to bring to help make the most of this event, especially if you are creating using mediums other than paint.

( ) Finished artwork to sell (we will have large 4' x 6'  pegboard easels set up in the shipyard to hang art work)
( ) Raw materials so you can explain your process to visitors
( ) Tools you use to create
( ) Sketches, designs, reference material... where do your ideas begin?
( ) Promo material  - signage, business cards, invites to other shows you're participating in this season, bio book/albums etc.
( ) Snacks and water to keep you hydrated

We invite artists to return to the shipyard at 4pm to share the work they've created with your fellow artists and enjoy a celebratory drink in honour of the day.
