Marilyn Brett
Marilyn grew up in small town Ontario and then moved to Nova Scotia with her then husband Bruce Brett. She has now lived in NS for forty years and has worked with Future Inns Canada until her retirement five years ago. She took up watercolours about thirteen years ago and continues to enjoy them for fun, therapy, and pastime. She has travelled with instructors to three different countries to work in watercolours and is learning new things all the time. She paints for her own enjoyment.
Diane Cote
Diane Cote is a visual artist and has always been inspired by Nature and the Atlantic Provinces, which is certainly evident in her art. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and after living and travelling extensively within Canada, the US and Europe, she’s returned to Atlantic Canada with an even greater appreciation of its’ unspoiled natural beauty.
Diane longs for the peace and solitude of the rural villages and coastal areas of these provinces; where her heart has always been. Although at home with a variety of mediums, scratchboard engraving and oils remain her favourites. She is self-taught in the art of scratchboard engraving where thousands of cuts with sharp objects are required to engrave an image onto the black board to expose the white clay beneath. The artwork is literally scratched into existence!
Now retired, Diane is able to devote more time to her craft after just re-entering the art world after many years. Diane is mainly self-taught and gaining recognition and representation in galleries. Her artwork can be found in private collections in Canada, Holland and Germany and in the corporate collection at The International Room at 5-Wing Goose Bay in Labrador.

Jackie Davis
I have been sketching since childhood, with most of my big surges in creativity at heavy times in my life. The current works you will see are from my Toronto life, with precarious work opportunities and roller-coaster relationships, there are a lot of portraits taken sneakily from the corner of the bar I would park in. Whether at a cafe, bar or event I do a little portrait of some line, curve, tweak, twitch or form and need to sketch the person, place or moment.
Paul Edmond
Paul grew up in the small town of Dominion, NS. ( Cape Breton). He began drawing at a very young age and progressed to oil painting in his teens. Economics guided him to a career path in the financial world and he went on to achieve many awards in his organization and the industry before retiring after 35 years as Director, Business Development in 2012, living in the City of Lakes, Dartmouth NS.
He became more aware of the acrylic medium while being introduced after retiring. It quickly became his go-to medium because of the vibrant colour possibilities and his talent in that field grew very quickly as friends and clients soon started to request his work.
Some examples of his growing talent include receiving Special Recognition Award in the “Light Space Time” 2020 contest involving artists from 32 countries with his entry of “Just old Archie”. His painting “Last plane in the Sky” was a finalist in the 4th Annual Fusion International Skies competition..announced early August 2020. He also received a Special Recognition Award in October 2020 for the painting “Sun Still Shines on Halifax” in the 10th annual Landscapes competition for “Light Space Time”. In April of 2021 his painting “Innocence Walking” also received a Special Recognition Award in the 11th annual international Figurative competition for “Light Space Time”.
Paul is a self taught artist who has combined his natural ability with numerous online tips from top artists in North America and world wide including various members like Joe Cornelius, Scott Prior, Jeanette Chupeck etc. Jack Vettriano is a personal favorite of Paul and certainly has had an impact on his style. Paul alternates his time between his homes in Florida and Dartmouth NS. Many pieces of his work involve the ever changing aspects of waterscapes, whether it involves activities on beaches or large lakes. Paul is always looking for that special moment on the water and most of his paintings are the result of his own photography.

Patricia LeBlanc
I live in a peaceful, waterfront setting in Upper Rawdon, Nova Scotia where I am a multi medium artist. The flotsam and jetsam that I discover on Nova Scotia’s beaches and coastlines inspire me to paint and create lighthouse and village scenes on canvas and reclaimed wood.
Rose Marie MacDonald
My expression of art can be attributed to two wonderful people, my Mother and Grandmother. While watching them at an early age working with all types of fibre to provide warmth for the family. This has given me the gift of creativity.
Growing up in NL gave me the appreciation for seascapes. Who would have thought that rug hooking and fibre art can be such a wonderful way of expressing myself and that others appreciate what I do. Rug Hooking and Fibre is good for the soul as you contemplate what you want to do next, one loop or poke at a time. All my life I have been creating things with fibre in some form or another. I am a member of the Avon River Arts . My work is on display and for sale at The Great Little Art Show and at the Avon River Heritage Museum in Avondale during the summer. Long Winter Nights Art Show at the Bread Gallery in Brooklyn, as well as Made in The Maritimes in Bayers Lake and the Hydrostone Market Halifax. I reside in Brooklyn, Hants County NS.

Kelly Mitchelmore
Native to Nova Scotia, Kelly is a fan of “support local”, believing that your community is only as good as you make it. She uses her art to promote and support her local area as much as possible and is involved with everything from mentorship programs and bursaries, to operating "A Is For Art" (a free and supportive platform to promote for local artists). Whether painting or teaching, or showing, Kelly enjoys a holistic approach to art and encourages all art on all levels.
Kelly’s home studio and gallery are in an old and romantic Victorian home located in the lovely town of Windsor. She paints standing and moves quickly to loud music, which has resulted in a quick dance break here and there ☺.
Kelly paints in both acrylic and oil and mostly creates nature and scenic pieces using some brush but mostly painting knives and trowels. She prefers to paint on large stretched canvases or wooden panels using a heavy pallet of deep and intense colours and applying with layered technique. Not a fan of being confined or limited by structure, the shape and composition often form as she paints. This allows more freedom and a bond is formed between the artist and the work as they both go through the creation together. She is especially known for her moody coastal scenes and her love of red with her poppy series.
Kelly has a Bachelor of Interior Design which has aided her with colour theory and perspective when creating her pieces. She also served over 14 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, and she attributes her time in the Navy as her inspiration and love for painting water and poppies. She shows throughout Canada and you can see her current collection on her website www.kellymitchelmore.ca fb: Kmitchelmore Insta: Kelly_Mitchelmore

Keesook Park
My name is Keesook Park. I don't have any formal education in art, however I have a great passion for watercolor painting. I am teaching myself, following a British watercolor artist Geoff Kersey. I work full time as a LPN, When I am not at work, I work in front of my easel, which gives me a great joy. My art work is mostly based on rustic and local Hants county scenes.
Diane Porter
Diane Porter lives in Upper Sackville, NS. She works mainly in acrylics, studying under artist Judy MacIntosh. Her works have been shown and donated regularly to the Mosaic for Mental Health Art Exhibition and Sale at Craig Gallery and Dartmouth, NS. She finds inspiration for her paintings in day trips around our beautiful province.
Tacha Reed
Working in the arts has always been in the cards for me. After a childhood filled with time spent creating using what ever materials available, it was no surprise that by the age of seven I was firmly committed to living the life of an artist as I grew up. After attending specialized art classes as a teen, I began my post secondary education studying photography and digital imaging, before shifting my focus towards graphic design, printmaking and film studies, eventually receiving a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in 2003. Upon graduation I began teaching art to elementary students, and for over two decades I have continued to work as a freelance photographer and designer, collaborating with many musicians, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations.
Since relocating to the tiny community of Ellershouse over a decade ago, my artistic practice has grown to include the creation of tactile fine artworks and products that make use of natural and recycled materials. These days I primarily create using wool from local British milking sheep raised in Avondale, which I carefully hand dye prior to transforming the fibre into vibrant felted wall hangings and functional items like hats and purses.
After taking on the role of facility manager for the Avon River Heritage Society Museum in 2013, the tidal river that surrounds the historic waterfront park became an ongoing source of inspiration for my artwork, especially evident in my 2019 felted series ADAPT, my graphic print Year of the Salmon, and the corresponding installation Ghost Salmon, which was placed along Simpson’s Creek in Newport Landing in June of 2019. In 2020 I elaborated on this installation, beginning work on a series of the Spawning Fish of the Avon River.
During lockdown I took up painting as a form of therapy and over the course of the past year I've produced dozens and dozen of paintings dealing with isolation, memory and the emotional scars that unseen by the naked eye.
When I’m not working or creating I continue to pass along my skills and knowledge by leading fibre art workshops and demonstrations, and by actively volunteering with groups like the Avon River Arts Society and the Full Circle Festival, organizing cultural events and activities in the Avon River area.

Sue Robinson
I was born and educated in Montreal, Quebec and Lausanne, Switzerland and since 1970 have called Halifax, Nova Scotia home. I am very fortunate to have been raised surrounded by the natural beauty of Lake Champlain. As a result I am a lover of wilderness hiking and paddling. For many years I was an out trip instructor with the Duke of Edinburgh's program for senior youth. Much of my art is an expression of gratitude and appreciation for God's creations. I'm delighted to be able to share my art with you, reflecting my love of wilderness adventures with paintings of nature in all its forms. I have endeavored to improve my skills with the assistance of accomplished instructors located in Lunenburg, Halifax and the Annapolis Valley, and through art conferences in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia as well as in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York States.
Ruth Ross
Ruth has been a resident of Hantsport for 16 years. I have moved around the province and lived in many places, due to Husband's job .Started painting in my 30's. Took instructions from various artists including Twila Robar De-Coste. I painted with oils for many years and eventually began working with water colour and acrylics, which I mostly work in at the moment. Being a nurse and raising a family, only allowed me to paint part-time over the years. I have also done some photography (due to my love of nature) which I have sold as gift cards and framed pictures, in the past. I have displayed my work in various venues and mostly my work has been shown at Valley Reg. Hosp., which is now in shut down due to Covid. I am drawn to flowers, water scenes and still life, which is evident in my work. Presently, have some work for sale at Refresh Home and Design, a newly opened gift shop in Wolfville. I continue to pursue my love of painting, as time allows, and am pleased to be able to display some of my work with the Avon Heritage Society.

Allison Stephens
I'm a self-taught artist born and raised in Hants County, NS. My addiction to colour and the nature of fluid movement between pigments is why I find watercolour painting so fascinating and soothing. I worked in television production for over 10 years before deciding it wasn't the right fit for my creative self.
Susan Sweet
Susan sweet, (BFA, NSCAD 1990) is a painter living and working along the Hants County shoreline in Maitland. Most of her work evolves through a continuing journey of visual observation of domestic livestock and the rural landscape including the ever-changing coastlines of Atlantic Canada. She usually works in acrylic paint on canvas. susansweet.ca
